Two years ago today, Japan was struck by disaster in the form of an earthquake and tsunami that lead to a massive loss of life, property, and a nuclear disaster in Fukushima. Now Crunchyroll is showing their support and remembrance by helping out Zapuni LLC, a new organization that seeks to unite Japanese artists with world-renowned musicians to help children affected by disaster, and the School Music Revival charity, which is dedicated to bringing music to the lives of children affected by Japan’s 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and Fukushima nuclear disaster.

To help raise money and awareness for School Music Revival, Crunchyroll is now streaming two animated videos created specifically for this anniversary: Blossom and Psychedelic Afternoon.

Please look at the source for more info & the videos.

After the earthquake, INSPi went to Hokkaido (how did they get there?!) and performed in the street. All I know about Hokkaido during the past few days is that they were largely cut off from communication because of damage to the Tohoku region. Wow, INSPi! I am amazed. Because of conditions, this is just a clip taken with a cell phone.

Am I going to pimp my support campaign again? You bet I am!

This is Rag Fair, one of Watanabe Entertainment's signed groups. Like with INSPi, WE has taken the rare step of allowing the video to be embedded in order to get the supportive message distributed to the people who most need hope and encouragement.

As long as I have you here, why don't you consider participating in my fund raiser? All you have to do is buy your usual J-idol merch or any item from CD Japan or HMV during their fund raisers, and put your proof of purchase in the comments to my campaign post.  Perhaps you would like to get a Rag Fair or INSPi CD? That would count! Take a screen shot of your purchase confirmation, without your personal ID, show it to me, and I give Mercy Corps two dollars!

Are you tired of seeing my posts begging you to buy Japanese fan goods? There's only one way to stop me. But Japanese fan goods, and then show my your proof of purchase in the comments to the campaign post!

Love to all for post pimpage and personal participation.

If you don't want to help with my project, how about you buy a fund-raising hand-made Japan-supporting bracelet from cestlevieminako? You'll be glad you did. Or click that fancy button in my left panel and make a direct donation to Mercy Corps?

13 down, 37 to go!

The donation campaign is going great, but there's still plenty of room for more participants! I'm making it even easier to join in because, now, not only is CD Japan having a fund raiser, so is HMV! In both cases, some stock they had last week may no longer be available because, you know, tsunami! but they are both great companies. And if you buy anything from them from during their fund raising drives, I will count that toward my goal.

12 fans! 38 to go....

Runway Beat is the first major Japanese film since the earthquake devastated northeastern Japan.  Because of damage to theaters, as well as the lack of transportation and the ongoing survivor/evacuee crisis, the scale and tempo of the opening was toned down, with patrons to the sold-out show coming by foot. The actors donned somber clothing, in contrast to the brightness of the film's story and advertising, out of respect to those suffering in the current situation. While many events have been canceled altogether, the decision was made, as Seto explained, to open the movie with the hope of bringing encouragement to movie goers. Extra gifts such as tote bags and T-shirts that had been planned to be given out to attendees in the various theaters on opening day have instead been donated to the Red Cross to use in the northeast. Additionally, the actors collected contributions of over 170,000 yen from the 230 people in attendance.

As you probably know since I've been relentlessly collaring every hapless ljfriend, friend of a friend, tweep and relative, I will donate $2 (up to $100) for everyone of you who shows me that you are helping Japan's entertainment industry by buying fan goods. If you aren't sure what to buy, I suggest Runway Beat goods or D*DATE's upcoming single CHANGE My LIFE. Oh, and I highly recommend the Seto Koji fashion calendar. Wow! Talk about a good investment for your hard earned recreational spending! It's not so much calendar as it is 24 high quality posters with a convenient hole to hang it.

Oh, um, sorry. Sort of losing track of my mission here....

OK, just click on that great big link there, and post me a screen shot of your proof of purchase. No identifying info is necessary.

But am I actually going to do this? I just did. 10 of you have met my challenge, and since people freezing their assets off in Tohoku need help now, I donated the $20 that these first 10 have earned with their rabid fannishness and love for Japan. Here's my own proof of purchase:

3/19 Mercy Corps donation

I hope next week to be able to donate the rest, but that's up to you. If you can't buy anything, though, could I please trouble you to click that button on the left there and make your own donation? Even just $10 would help. Or maybe you might want to buy a lovely bracelet to show your support of Japan and help out the Red Cross?

1. Watch the CM:

2. Buy any version of the single! Make it extra sweet by buying through CD Japan during their fund raiser this month.
3. Participate in my Japan Relief campaign by showing me your proof of purchase. (Yes, I am going to keep nagging my entire fl about this until I reach my goal. So just cave and buy the CD already!)

Eniyon is an enka singer in Japan I met in the Ameba chat game Piggu.  He's quite good, as you can hear, and a man of deep feeling.

CD Japan is running a donation campaign. They will donate 2% of all their profit for the rest of the month to Japan relief. Hurray!

So! I am now adding to my own little campaign. If you buy anything from CD Japan right now, it can count toward my goal of having 50 people buy Japanese goods, and make me donate that $100. So, do it!
